Two years ago, I decided to learn English. This decision was driven by its importance in software development and my goal to succeed in the international arena. I began this journey with Cambly and then continued with SpeakingClub. Despite having a full-time job, I developed my English practice by attending SpeakingClub meetings with discipline every day, chatting with people from different countries and cultures, and exchanging information. I practiced English for an average of 2–3 hours a day.

However, not everything always went smoothly. Eight months ago, I applied for a Front End Developer position at a company in Malta. Despite successfully passing all stages, I was rejected due to my English proficiency. A similar situation occurred when I had a job interview with a company in the Netherlands. But these feedbacks steered me towards working harder and improving my English skills.

Since March 2022, I have appeared on the leadership board 8 times for having the most English meeting practice monthly. I finished June 2023 in 3rd place. I regard this as progress, indicating how far I have advanced in my English learning journey.

During this process, I realized how much I needed to work to reach my goal of learning English. Moreover, learning English is more than just learning a new language. It’s also an opportunity to connect with different cultures, meet new people, and view the world from a broader perspective. My English learning process offered me these opportunities and enhanced me not only as a software developer but also as an individual.

My next step will be to further improve my English skills and achieve more success on the international stage. To reach this goal, I will continue my English practice and explore new opportunities.

This process, as challenging as it was, has strengthened me and taught me the determination and commitment required to reach my goals.

In conclusion, my journey of learning English has shown me how much effort and discipline are required to succeed in all areas of life.
