The Ru Clan gets its name from Ruby, who happens to be the leader of the clan. I was inspired to name her Ruby after the Ruby programming language.
The Ru Clan consists of four core members: Ruby, Perl, Berêvar, and Scratch. Apart from these, a few dogs have attempted to join the pack for a while but were unable to become part of the clan as they were not accepted by the core members of the Ru Clan.
The first member I met in the Ru Clan was Perl. Şeref abi (big brother Şeref), as we call him, affectionately refers to Perl as “Peri”. Perl is the key to entering the Ru Clan. You must first be accepted by Perl. Before meeting Perl, I used to fear dogs, feeling apprehensive and keeping my distance. However, my first greeting with Perl, the initial touch, and the courage Perl gave me changed my perspective towards dogs and broke the chains that kept me distant from them.
I learned that Ruby was the leader of the Ru Clan pack purely through observations of their bonds and behaviors towards each other.
Berêvar is a word in Kurdish, and it means ‘afternoon’ or ‘late afternoon’. I named him Berêvar because he tends to appear in the afternoon.
Scratch is like a cotton-candy puppy. The name Scratch comes from a programming language developed by MIT, intended to teach children the logic of programming. By identifying the character of the dog with the Scratch programming language, I decided on the name Scratch.
This blog post serves as an introduction to the members of the Ru Clan. In the coming posts, I will begin to tell the life stories within the Ru Clan.
